Understanding your Account/Prior Approval
Accounts
You will usually receive one account from MercyAscot, unless you
are self-funding your procedure or are not insured with Southern
Cross. Your endoscopy charges include accommodation,
procedure room fees, specialist fees, medication and medical
supplies. There may also be additional charges for laboratory
services if you are not a New Zealand resident.
Any collection or legal costs incurred in recovering any debt
will be charged to you.
Patients with Prior Approval
MercyAscot is a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider. If you
are insured with Southern Cross, our staff will obtain your prior
approval, providing you meet the criteria. You will need to
supply your Southern Cross membership number.
Patients not insured with Southern Cross
You will be required to obtain prior approval from your
insurance provider and produce this on arrival at the endoscopy
department.
Please contact us for an estimate of costs.
Failure to provide this prior approval number will require you
to pay a deposit before your procedure and the balance on
discharge.
Following discharge you will be sent an invoice from
MercyAscot. You must complete a claim form and forward this
to your insurer. After the hospital has received payment from
your insurance company MercyAscot will then forward you an invoice
showing any amount outstanding, that may not have been covered by
your insurer.
Self-Funding Patients

admission

obtain an estimate of hospital costs and are then required to pay
